Nice, have you been able to find ammo to try them out?
Last few gun shows around here .303 was not anywhere.

What's the year and arsenal mark on the No1 MkIII?

AIM SURPLUS likely has 303 Brit ammo.

Best Regards,

Mark

BTW, I'm going to fondle my 1916 Enfield SMLE now.

nice , an SSA [standard small arms] peddled scheme rifle , nothing derogatory in that , it was how they were made at that time , parts from various locations assembled there ,

do show us the wrist markings - right side of the band under the bolt handle , and the left as well would be nice , i cannot see the barrel marking well enough to comment at this time ,

its an interesting rifle , would love to see more

while not the photos i had hoped for - do add more when you have time - it appears to be a 1917 mkIII* , not at all certain of the markings below the originals but i will guess later service in other country , not bad either as most serviceable rifles saw duty in that capacity if they survived , its wearing early bits such as that boltcocking knob , does she still have her stock disk ?

she is a beauty in my book , these days we dont see many originals in good nick , i do want you to know you have a nice collectible , but ....

"..the no1 came with fifty rounds on strippers, ..." do not venture onto an enfield site with that terminology , please , those are chargers that hold the ammo for "charging" that magazine , its a real important distinction in these fine rifles , good terminology is very important to getting good responses , these folks take their rifles very seriously , but most are very friendly and helpful when asked ,

enjoy that - they are not makin them anymore :D

the no4 will suite modern eyes [and older ones] better but the nostalgia lies in the older ones , and my vice is the trainers
