Hi guys, been maybe 3-4 years since I was here, hope everyone is well. I got caught-up in the muzzleloading thing about 5 years ago and devoted all my energies in that direction.
But, as fate would have it, I started to miss my Garand rifles that I owned. So much so that I have just now ordered an Refurbished Garand from the CMP, cost a chunk but what I wanted most of all in this rifle was a decent barrel, these Garands come with a new Criterion barrel, stock and all metal reparked to look new. Can't wait! Anyway, I just wanted to say HI and wish everyone well. Stenzilla

:welcome: back. When you get the rifle you will need to post some pics.

Initially, I'm told the wait time for this rifle is 30-60 days. Still waiting after 2 weeks to see my pending order on the CMP site. I called and found they are swamped with orders and at this time are opening mid-March mail. I expect them to get to me next week, but there is good news though, my wait time started when they received the mail, whether it got opened or not.
This rifle is worth the wait time, simply because like those who have Harley motorcycles for sale, owners of Garands think they're worth way more than sensible! All local Garands are going for at least $1200 in varying conditions. As I stated earlier, the barrel is the key to accuracy, the Special has a new one and that is what I'm waiting for and will continue to wait. Zilla :D

Hmmm, May 10th and my order hasn't been opened yet, my FFL expires June 1, 2015, hope they hurry up! Sending in a new FFL will only delay my prize further.

Had only one of these ol girls.......she was a good one!....but I needed $$$ for the real love of flintlock building.......

Only thing neede to buy is the garrangear gas plug......I bought one and a new spring......shot anything and everything thru her without any problems :jmp:

Pictures needed when she gets here........but, don't forget about those black powder things.....as we sink into the cesspool of govt laws......we will all be needing a flintlock to get rabbits for supper!!! :kap:

Still waiting for confirmation of order. I was concerned because my dealer's ffl will expire June 1. They told me they always call the dealer for more info before cancelling the order or asking for an updated ffl.

The other day I contacted my dealer to let him know what I was up to, he in turn contacted someone in NY to see if the Garand rifle was compliant<yikes!>, then he contacted CMP to settle the FFL issue :D All is right with my world so far, should be just a few days till I receive confirmation of this order. Sure was easier back in the day before the Facists took over

I picked up the rifle the other day from my dealer. It's a mixmaster for sure. Springfield receiver, IHC gas screw and NM operating rod. I haven't taken it down yet, nor fired it either, only used a pull-through to clean the bore. The stock is new and something to see. I'll get pics when I can, very busy at the time.
