I dropped a small bid on this and got it. Looks like a fun build. I'll draw file all the marks from the barrel & send it and the lock to kaintuck, who has offered to brown them for me. Thank yew, kaintuck! :bigrin:

The box sez "walnut stock" but it sure looks like beech to me. Which is all right. The trick to staining beech is to mix a Rit dye package to a quart only. Water soluble stains work best on beech. Keep applying until it's as dark as you like.

I'm plotting & scheming how to "age" the brass, too. I'm going for the 'been there - did that' look. I'll post pics when I start. SW
