A couple years ago, wifey's seester gave me a ratty old Ruger 22 auto that had languished in a junk pickup for nearly 20 years. Thinking the barrel was as rusty as the lower, I scored a new upper for cheep. Turned out the lube on 22 boolets preserved the bore just fine, and the lower functioned as intended after a vigorous cleaning.

Today, I found this Ruger lower & parts on gunborker. Meaning I can put my new upper on it and have a much better 22. It also leaves me with a rough-looking but fully functional one that *might* be sold to make the newer one even cheeper.

I'll post pics of both when I have the new upper in hand and everything put together.

that sounds great , two for less than the price of one , yes you could sell , but then you would not be able to play bruce willis in last man standing - something every kid wants to do - just sayin ,

Got it in today & soon had the upper on it. A Mark lll upper on a Mark l lower using a Standard Model magazine.

Out to the buttes for a function test. I ripped 2 mags through it as fast as I could pull the trigger... perfect!!

The upper had been brang new & this lower hadn't been shot much at all. Virtually a new Ruger 22 auto for cheep!

I love it when a plan comes together!!

I ground the loaded chamber indicator down to clear the bolt & super glued it in place to keep junk out of the action.

No pic of the other 22 - someone called dibs on it & it's gone already. SW

cool , you have a fine - functioning piece that will serve you well , one day in the future someone will ask so i sugest you write down what was done to give them peace - little play on words if you will

I've always been amazed by Ruger arms- "investment" castings, and all.
Prime example is the bolt of the 10-22, as well as the "bolts" of the pistol series.
For castings, they sure are tightly toleranced, and much more than adequately hardened.

Good score! Hope it's as accurate as it's appearance...
