This stuff is from both the expo and online auction.
Colonial French campaign medal. This soldier could well have been an "old sweat" Looks like he was all over N Africa.

Here we have a WW1 Senegalese fez. Saw 3 and was finally able to haggle the price down on this one. I tried to ask the seller about it, but he couldn't understand me any better than I could understand him. Finally he told me "ni**er hat!" Must have had a degree in marketing! He wrote down a price & I took a quantity of Euros less than that from a pocket (gun show trick - I never have all my money in one pocket) & he finally went for it. I was hoping it would fit so I could wear it for YW admin meetings, but not to be.
**ETA** Native levies from Senegal fared poorly in the winter environment of the western front. They suffered so badly, most were finally shipped off to Indochina.

Comrade Swihart had me order this one for him. I'm not sure what it represents, but it's very well-made.

This is a Colonial French artillery man's kepi. Not sure what year it's from.

Not militaria - this is a German railway engr's kepi. Tried to haggle the price early on with no success. Went back right before closing time & got it for what I wanted to spend.
Something I've learned at the expo - I don't care if you're from some obscure tribe deep in the Amazon rain forest; everybody knows what "how much" means.
I didn't get all this at once - got it a little at a time over the course of as year.
Thanks again, Andrey!! SW
