N.I.B. :P

Image

It's supposed to be a "weathered" look finish. Would of preferred just a straight blue myself, but that's just me.

Image

Grips are a little on the slick side- may be cousin to yak fat preservative. Lots of grease on this one.

Image

Image

Front sight is plastic, and 2 spares came with it.

Image

Pellet cartridge is not the same as the ones in the Colt SAA artillery model. Can't be sure if the cylinder walls are stepped for gas seal like the previously discussed 1875 Remington, until I get it cleaned up a bit.

Image

I think these sights are gonna be a bit easier to hit with- they are minus the chrome glare of the other two...

Image

Not Blondie's silver rattler, but still decent. Trigger is ultra sweet on this thing! I'm gonna shoot it in the workshop tonight- gotta soda can stashed away specially for this

I'm gonna hafta stop for a while now, at least until after Christmas.
There's a 7 1/2" NRA version, and a 7 1/2" Duke version as well. There's another chrome one out now with gold cylinder and 7 1/2" bbl. Egad.

6 perfectly timed shots, eh little one? ;)

It wants to shoot

Image

Results of 7 cylinders~ 42 shots on one soda can. 4 missed. 7 paces with a real mix of different pellets.

Image

That's where the majority of them entered. Some fliers pulled bad on the first paper target. They were the first 12 shots out of the gun.

Last cylinder put all 6 into an 8 oz coffee cup at 7 paces. I like this thing! Another gas sipper. 60 for sure usable shots out of a 12 gram CO-2 bulb...

I'll work with it in near future. Wanna see if there's anything to this quick-draw & fan business. :P

CO2 is routed through the "primer hole" of each cartridge?

And the ribs seen on the barrel serve what purpose?

I'm not being a wise guy - Not bring a CO2 revolver guy, I just can't imagine their usefulness. SW

Yes, the pellet goes where the primer would normally be seated, and gas flows in behind it. Gas seals have come a long ways. There is a a nagant type spring loaded metallic gas seal at the front of the cylinder, and a floating nylon seal at the rear.

Not sure about their every day usefulness~ I think the only one I'd hunt with is the 586-6, on very close range small game only.

The last 4 revolvers I've bought have all been well made, heavy replicas. The practice thing always comes in good, and the fun factor is incredibly high. I've quit trying to be a target shot with the CO-2 hand guns though. If I can hit reliably from 7-10 paces, I'm happy...

The ribs hold the plastic front sight on. From what I've read, the original intent was to make the gun look as if it had been magna-ported. Would have come in handy on a real 45 L/C with a bbl that short. Stallone carries, and uses a very similar SAA at the end of "Expendables 3" ....

Okay! We have a lot of those Asian doves around here - the larger variety that stay year round... I just discovered they are legal to hunt all year. Maybe not so legal to shoot a BB gun in town, but I've a fence around the back yard & pellets wouldn't be bouncing all over Haystack.

I am considering a BB/pellet rig of some sort. SW

Post subject:  Re: Again.....

This one's a rifled bore, and it's quite well done- almost like looking down a pre-micro-groove Marlin bore
So no b.b.'s outta this one. Manufacturer's claimed velocity is 340 fps with an 8.0 gr class pellet.
From what I'm seeing on the soda can, that's gotta be close. She won't penetrate the heavier aluminum can ends at 7 paces. I'll try and get it over the chrony tonight. My best thought is that this one's gonna be a serious plinker, and no more...

If you can find a 586 or 686 with an 8" bbl, that would be the route I'd take for semi-urban Haystack doves, loaded with quality domed pellets. Steel b.b.'s are notoriously bad for ricochet, even at low velocity...

A few more pix:

Image

Front sight removed.

Image

Ejector rod in operation.

Image

There's the ejector rod poking out from the cylinder rear...

Image

There's a 7.9 gr pellet in the rear of a umarex case...

Image

3 single action CO-2 revolvers.

Image

Front cylinder gas seal. This is the spring loaded metallic seal mentioned earlier. All 3 revolvers use this system.

Image

Same seal above under compression.

Image

Rear cylinder seal. This system works quite well...

Where do you find them?

Post subject:  Re: Again.....

They are a regular item at cabela's.
I paid 219.00 cdn for it. U.S. price should be about 159.00 to 169.00.

Pyramyd Air has them on sale right now.

There seems to be quite a few pellet revolvers on this site. There's a Dan Wesson 8" that looks nice, and a lot of SAA variants as well....

Golly pretty pricey. My cheapo copys are less than that and shoot real bullets

Post subject:  Re: Again.....

The pellets these things shoot are pretty real too ;) I would not want to be hit by a poly-mag predator- even at 340 fps. :-o

$149:00 is a steal compared to what we're paying up here.

It is what it is. For all that machining and fine tolerances to go into a pellet pistol... I gotta say well done to Umarex.

For cheap, quiet indoor practice, this thing is hard to beat. Did I mention I like it? Yet?

Congrads on the cheapo copies  Kinda curious as to who sells them for less than a bill and a half... Not trying to be a wise-acre in the least. I post these things as a matter of general shooting interest....
