Given current events, I've been picking up evil black rifle parts and putting them back. Cabelas had stripped Anderson lowers on sale for $50 & I drove over to grab one. That's the critical part.

Now I'm watching different vendors for other parts on sale. Palmetto had bolt carrier groups (BCG) with charging handle on sale for $90 with free shipping. Couldn't pass that up! You often see what appears to be a killer deal on an AR upper, but if you read the fine print, a lot of those don't come with BCG & charging handle. So I figured that was something I needed right away.

Got other small items from Brownells like a lower parts kit - most of which I doubt I'll use. I got drop in 3.5# triggers & can't say enough good about them. Any evil black rifle I build in the future will have one. Same for an ergo grip - makes a large difference. And since I'm a lefty I sprung the $20 & change for an ambi safety.

I can wait for a good deal on an upper. Something else I'm watching for is an 80% lower and machining kit. But they are consistently sold out. No biggy - I want to machine one just for the experience.

I probably won't build another rifle very soon, but it never hurts to have stuff like this put back! SW

looks like good planning to me , over the years ive gotten complacent having built a dozen for the family and having mine in hand , the parts were always right down the road a 1/4 mile and i had access to all the folks with the knowledge and tools right at hand , so now things are not quite the same , yet not all that different , only thing i know today - that is different than then - i cant just build one behind the bench in the back office as the lowers are not as available - i can still get them if i put in a request ,

the one thing i did last year that i had on my bucket list was to get my hands on an early [pre 2000] DPMS lower with the becker address , i wanted to have both of the MN addresses becker and st cloud in my gun safe , im not looking for a huntsville at this time ,
