Since we FINALLY got our tax refund last Wed (we filed our return Feb 28) I figured it was time for a toy and bid on this Puma Model 1933 sword. Got it for the minimum even! SW

At least these pumas don't chase you while you are jogging like the one in Colorado.

Around here, they grab stray poodles and cats, too. Much easier to catch than wild wabbits. SW

Interesting piece.

Is there any history available on this?
I'd be interested in seeing the manufacturer's marks...

Tracking sez it'll be here Monday. Seller posted an image of the Puma logo - I'll put up a better one when I have it in hand.

It's supposedly an artillery style sword - don't have any back story on it. SW

I was beginning to think it was gone forever, but I finally got a message from the USPS.

It laid around a backwoods Georgia PO for TWO weeks but is on the way again.

And they wonder why they're losing money.   SW

did you get it yet ?

Post subject:  Re: Another Puma

No. I get daily messages it's on the way but no location or idea when it might arrive.

I've noticed stuff Fred Ex delivers is on time - sometimes ahead of schedule. SW

is it just me being obtuse or dont we send observers to foreign countries to oversee that their votes are counted and properly handled ?
why on earth dont we have a nationwide standard that insures our elections are free of fraud ? OH YEA i think i just answered my rhetorical question , but im not real happy with the response ...........

The PO is staffed by a lot of slackers! It was shipped Oct 19 - got it today. Finally! But it's in great shape and I'm way happy with it! If only there was still a pumpkin laying around here... ;)   SW

congrats - that looks as advertised or better , i think you got a really nice example and it makes me wish i had gone into these back when , something about these old sabers that makes the imagination run wild ,

divested my 1860 saber a number of years ago to a young civil war collector - hope he enjoys it still ,

That is a piece of fine art!

I like the looks a lot. Time for me to quit buying lenses and start looking for a smallish Puma folder.

Different style Puma this time - a police dress bajonet with knot. (can't recall the proper word for it) This one was here promptly - in a damaged container. Fortunately the seller heavily padded it and all was well.

Been liquidating a few Italian items now that the book is in print, and they seem to be turning into blades. SW

i have always over padded my packages as well , its amazing how badly they get abused in transit and most of them cannot be replaced anymore ,

Meanwhile, back at the ranch... my main man in Budapest scored this for me from a Germ. auction site.

Puma military surplus Bundeswehr pilot's knife. The blade looks just like a White Hunter blade. Wood scales rather than stag, though. SW

That's a nice multi-purpose profile on that blade.

Not seeing much for used knives around here for a while now.
Probably won't until we can get back to gun shows again...

Put pictures up when you have it in hand!

Post subject:  Re: Another Puma

From a German auction site came this Puma "Kansas Jack" knife. Checking with the Puma collector's site, it's quite uncommon. Puma also marketed a Tom Mix knife at about the same time.

Tom Mix is well known, but I've been unable to find anything at all relating to Kansas Jack of the old west. In pretty good shape overall except for some sharpening marks.

It's uncommon enough I won't whine too loudly about that. In the last pic, notice the "Ges Gesch" mark which stands for patent pending or similar concept in German. I think that indicates it was intended for the German or Euro market only. I like it! SW
