I think this is the fourth of these that I have gotten now.
The first three were gifted out.
It's an improved version of the popular M-16 series.
I have not seen this before, with these improvements.
First, and foremost, the "hinge" screw has been checkered, and changed to a straight slot.
Previous variants required a torx driver.
A lot of finger stop has been added to the area behind the blade, and the extra safety pin has been removed from the frame.
I find these improvements more than welcome, and would like to keep this one for myself.
The black finished stainless blade is $18.00 over the price of the satin blade.
Manufacturer's model number is M16-01S...

I just can't seem to hold onto the M-16 knife. Sigh....
Gave the latest away already.

Here's the consolation:

Ireland mfg'd pocket knife.

She's a three blader and just ever so slightly patina'd :P .
Blades are in good shape, and I've since sharpened them.
I like the profile of the "main" blade a lot.

Maker's roll stamp.

The thinking here is if I buy an old knife, it won't be worth giving away....
These Irish steel knives were a big fat hairy deal when I was a kid, and not all that far behind the Sheffield English steel benchmark.
Almost certainly an "upper class" K-mart/Woolworth's knife.

Case, Puma, and pre-china Schrade I've been on the look-out for quite some time now.
Pumas do show up, albeit with unreasonable price tags.
I had the big sheath Schrade with the stag handle that stained your hands red when I was a kid, and would love to find another...
Fantastic long lasting edge on that one.

yes indeed the hardware stores always had their wares prominately displayed back in the day - not so much anymore tho , i had a plumb hatchet and knife combo when i was a cub/boy scout back in the late 50s early 60s , i gave the knife to my godson for his tackle box knife , my dad used and abused the hatchet a lot back then but he always cleaned it up after , i think i left that with him when i left home , got it back in the 90s and had refitted it with an army surplus sheath , the old leather one it came with gave up the ghost after years of carrying , i had the army one that had the trenching tool attached but my daughter lost that set at a volleyball get together before she graduated high school ,

ive since replaced it wit a very sharp newer version by a good mfgr [gerber with knives to match] im able to do what i need if the need arises , ive not needed one in recent years but hate to be without one , i picked up a machete as well , im better equiped than i ever was a young person these days ,

5th one:

I'd like to hang onto this one a bit, and get some use out of it.
52mm lens cap for size reference.
Nikkor P 55mm f3.5 Micro at f5.6, 1/80 sec. and ISO 1000.
Almost 1:1.
This one still has the pocket clip on it, which will soon be removed.
I'd like to find a small belt sheath for it.

I like CRKT blades. Had an M-16 that followed one of younger daughter's HS pals home... I'm pretty sure. But I've always had Pumas around so I never replaced it. SW
