Picked up a cheep little red dot at half price at Cabela's.

Don't be fooled by the ACOG look-a-like.
It's just a simple 1 X 28mm (I think) red dot with the usual unlimited eye relief.
There's nothing with it to suggest objective diameter.

Image
Dot diameter is 3 m.o.a., which I prefer over the more common 5 m.o.a.

Image

It is controlled by a five position rotating rheostat switch.
No reticle or color choices here- just the red dot.

Image

Elevation turret comes with a factory strippped elevation screw-head.
We shall see on friday when I go to sight it in.

It is far lighter than the tasco RD 30-22 I am accustomed to...

Image

Single screw Weaver type mount, with the obligatory made in Chine sticker.

Body is a composite carbon fibre plastic which is very hard, and light in weight.
Mixed on-line reviews on this one.
If I have too much trouble with it, I'll just get the Bushnell mini-dot.
It's going on a .177 pumper pellet air pistol, and I really don't anticipate much trouble with that use in mind.

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

i put one of those on my 22cal dedicated AR to simulate the ACOG on my 556 rifle for practice back when i shot three gun a lifetime ago - its still on there and it still works fine even tho it doesnt see the range time it once did , at short ranges i never had an issue with it , the error amplifies as you go out ,

the ACOG on the other hand was great at both close and distance - but then back then it was a $1200 scope ...and i never bought the night vision its compatible with ,

i put a leupold version on my M4 that has both cross hairs and a lighted dot - it also works well at close quarters and distance long as you dont depend on the dot over the cross hairs when your at distance ,

I have a couple older Primary Arms faux Aimpoints on a couple AR's, on in 22,

also have an older Aimpoint on a Carryhandle AR, (the one that drops in front of the carry handle,

another vintage unit I have not mounted yet, and an ACOG , that I picked up in an estate,

speaking of aimponts, I have one of those ancient ones on a Smith 41 barrel,

I have time behind the Primary Arms faux units, and they do what they are intended to do,
