Yesterday's Weapons Forums

My cheap HP isn't doing too well - case is cracked, and I didn't even drop it. Shopped around online and grabbed a refurb 17" Asus from Newegg. So far I like the bigger screen and keyboard. I fat finger keys a lot when I type.

Then there's the different keyboard layout. The delete key isn't extreme upper right now - it's 5 keys over. Also to be done is go through and get it set up the way I like.

Which might take a while - I'm one of these guys who doesn't do well with change.

The HP still works so I'll get all my pics saved to external hard drive. Much to my surprise when I got the Asus fired up, all my favorites moved to it. There's a whole lot I don't know or understand about computers.

But so far I'm liking it. SW

i hate change and even more changing computers , this one [a sony took me a while with the win10 from my older HP with vista] once i got used to it i still kept[keep] my old one just because - it had far better screen and photo resolution , i can feel your pain ,

Finally convinced the computer I'm not participating in any of their invasive foolishness, and am using this n00b full time now. I'm about used to the delete key but will put a small piece of masking tape on it to make it easier to find by feel.

Next project is save all my pics on the HP to external hard drive. SW

The micro-soft cloud and wi-fi are how your files get transferred.

I'm on an older H/P pro-book here, and the same thing happened.
I think it's about 6 years old now- the same age as windows 10.
Next one is going to get a different user name at start-up, at least.
I really dislike how easily data can be transferred.

I'm not a fan of the cloud and plan to save nothing there. Actually, most of my stuff transferred automatically which worked out well. There's a whole lot I don't understand about computers. SW
