Picked up at the Brooksville gunshow, a relatively rare ( I have never seen one before) H&R Reising MDL 65 semi auto trainer. All parkerized, heavy as the dickens, has a 1943 dated sling. Took it out and it functioned beautifully. |

Post subject: | Reising test target |
When I took the Reising out for the test run, I went directly from the gunshow to my little private .22 range. I had not dis-assembled,oiled or cleaned it up. I checked to make sure it looked functional, and had no barrel blockages, etc. It took me about 10 rds to center her in. Started a few more shots when it jammed. The extractor had dislodged. Checking it out, it had not broken, but years of dried gunk was preventing the extractor pin and plunger to properly flex and return. Afraid of loosing the extractor, I got it back in and carefully finished checking after each fired shot, so as to not loose the extractor. Not the best method for target concentration. Here are 2 test targets, shot at 25 yds. I am sure, I could shrink those groups to half now. It is all clean and proper. The target on the right had a 4 click correction while shooting, so that group would have been smaller had I not moved the sights during shooting. The trigger feels and breaks exactly like an AR15 trigger. |
