Attention New Members and those new registering!
We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username.

Was actually June purchase but never got around to posting. This one was manufactured in 1898 and is one 7,897 produced.

ZZ stamp in shield stands for Zeughaus Zürich

These are fairly small rifles as can be seen between the Swiss M1911 and Swiss 1893 (M93) carbine.

They are designed to shoot the GP90 round. The Swiss also had a reduced load designed for the younger Cadets (12 year old) I want to say like 5 to 10 % less powder but don't quote me on that.

If you look at the receiver you can see the 1897 receiver resembles the 1911 receiver. Many say the receiver is strong enough to handle the GP11 ammo and have heard of one person trying it with success. Hmmm...don't think I'll try it though.

Left side of rear sight has range markings to 1200 for GP90 and the right side has one marking of 200 meters for the reduced load.

The one on top is the 1897.

Have you slugged and miked the bore or do you know which rifling type it has? Never mind. I have looked it up. I previously did not know of this types existance. It has the three groove rifling, but midbolt lugs like the 1911 so it is stronger than the 1889, but set up for the older cartridge like you said. My books seemed to have skipped this model. Very interesting.

It is a nice looking piece
