stopped in a small store in cheyenne, wyoming this morning and found a ross rifle. not sure which model, and it's been sportered, but this one is restoreable at least. no serial number, earliest date on the stock is 1909. bore is great, but i'll need a front sight, front band, stock, and handguard to restore it.
came with a 1918 dated sling, and i figure that's probably worth just about the 100 bucks he wanted for the whole rifle.

Here i was telling pop yesterday that when the roth steyr parts come in, i'm out of a project gun for the first time in years. that didn't last long.

here's a few pics. if anyone has any info on the rifle or the stock markings, i'd really appreciate the info!

these help? i really don't know anything about these rifles, but it's the only one i've ever held in my hands that wasn't sportered waaay beyond saving.

edit: the bolt on this one has almost no resistance, much easier to operate than either a schmidt-rubin or a steyr m95.

It is a Mk II

I bpught one very similar for about $ 25 more 3 years ago. The bore is pristine & shoots like a dream. The back sight seems a bit overly complex
for your average Joe Grunt.

NICE SCORE!!! I wish you LOTS of luck in finding the missing pieces though :-?

i posted in a couple of places in the hopes someone could point me towards a parts source. following my typical collecting practice, buy the rifle, then find out about it. kinda the hard way to do things, but i've always been stubborn! :lol

thanks for the info, and y'all have a good day. Keith
