I went to a pawn shop yesterday looking for some Play station games for the girls and spied this.I came home with it but just to play it safe,I sneaked it into the house while no one was looking.The shop owner said it was a Finn capture.I didn't educate him,since he wants $389 for the Tikka M91 that was sitting beside it.I asked what he wanted for the 28/30(didn't say 28/30,just this one) and he said$250.I didn't even try to get him down,just filled out the paper work in nothing flat.

...where on earth do the people that take these things in to pawn aquire them??....sorry-I dont wanna sound ignorant-but all the pawn shops around these local parts are in...uhmmmm ....'neighborhoods' you would'nt even drive thru-let alone go into....

It was a 1906 Izzy.We have a Roses department store here that used to sell these back in the early 90's.I wasn't into them then.They were around $69 or so.This one never had the cosmo cleaned out of the barrel.someone was probably cleaning house and decided to get rid of it,and ended up in the pawn shop.

i supose there are those that are overwhelmed at needing to dispose of a firearm who look for the first fast buck availablebut I NEVER FIND THEM , congrats

I got way ripped off with my last M-27... Bought it outta the "for sale" ads in the Anchorage Daily news in 2000...some POS had it plugged with cosmo, and 200$ later, at home, it turned out to be almost riflingless, pitted chamber and such....Im certain was shot corrosive and put away, untill it was time to sell, and the cosmo job was truly a "Cover up".....sooooooooo I cleaned it , and boxed it...just cant bring myself to screw someone else the same way.
I does have "popsicles reinforced front band" though...

I have rebarreled a 1/2 dozen rifles, and actually only damaged one beyond repair, (torqued the reciver on a late war sporter'd mauser98 outta wack) and one Mauser barrel blank I tryed to cut an extractor slot into and ruien'd the chamber.........Never have tryed a Mosin, though its not beyond my means. Just living inna small house and no shop at the moment.

Then again, Im stuck gunsmiths version of with the Chinese Chicken Soup recipie, that starts with "first you need a chicken"

Any ideas on barrel sources? Prehaps with the sight bases would be best.

Sure would make a nice mismatched hunting 27....
