The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username. went to the gunshow in cheyenne, wyoming today and picked up this nice looking spanish m1893. the bolt doesn't match, but it's in great shape, both wood and metal. it was made at oviedo arsenal in 1898, the first year of production in spanish arsenals.

also picked up a 300 rnd case of finn mosin ammo on stripper clips, all the 8x56r ammo i could find, and some more gun rugs. why do i always seem to need more of those??

Looks great.I have a 1905 dated one.These early ones don't have the gas port in the receiver.

very nice , the stock looks in terrific shape ,

i thought the first oviedo rifles were 3-digits produced in 1896 ? with the alphabetical use of a single letter and four digits starting in that year and progressing to 1917 with 50,000 made in that range ,

mines missmatched too , i think it predates yours - made in "berlin" , ive never gotten around to shooting it

well, so much for that research! the data i found online said that oviedo started in 1898, didn't have a reference to 1896. thanks for the info, a square 10!

pretty sure these rifles went through refurb at some point before they were surplussed, the stock does look too new to have been issued.

i added a link , so tell a novice mauser illiterate - what can i shoot thru this safely ? id love to take this to the range with the 92/96 krag [middle one in the photo , and relive the spanam war for a few miniutes
