Hi Gun Nut. I am awaiting 2 more boxes of the PP ammo so I can try the rifle off a sand bag. If it shoots well, I will look into reloading. I have read that dies can be a problem with seating and crimping due to the variation with bullets, IE: .264" to .268". The rifle was bubba'd partway, so I finished the job and made a presentable shooter out of it. The stock has plenty of character and would have been reduced to a toothpick had I attempted to remove all the scars! All of my mil-surps, with the exception of my Beaumont-Vitali, are less than original. I like to think I have given them a new lease on life! Cheers! |

It certainly is! My 1936 MAS was pulled from a dumpster 30 years ago. The bolt was rusted in the open position and the bore would not allow any daylight to pass through. Surprisingly, when I removed all the rust, the only pitting was under the forend. It is a 'Santa Fe' sporter and shoots reasonably well with my handloads. I am going to attempt some gas checked lead bullets through it very soon. Cheers! |
