I've seen lots of Mosin Nagant oil bottles, but just can't seem to find the origin of this one.
It looks like a Mosin Nagant oil bottle, but is it one??
I found this one last weekend at a gun and militaria show in Ciney, Belgium.

About all I can tell you is that it's not Russian since the Cyrillic alphabet doesn't use the letter 'S'. In Cyrillic, C = what we all know as S. SW

...sure looks like one to me....but country of origin...???

I also found this site.



I did find the oil bottle in here, but only in the section
"UNKNOWN".

I'll just keep searching.
Someone must know where this bottle was used.

Have you asked the German Mosin-Nagant expert, Kurt Heinze? ( I can't recall his full name) SW

I think you mean Karl-Heinz Wrobel.
I sent him an E-mail some time ago concerning another Mosin Nagant subject but didn't receive an answer yet.
It's a good idea though.
He might have an answer.

Do you know on known samples what each side held? I would then go to google translate & try to find a country based on a translation that matched the "MA" und "SK" Might still come up empty but that's the only way I know to proceed to investigate

Its looking to me like it's for an AK-47..
I found a site where the exact bottle is pictured but not positively identified either but could be help in another step in the right direction
