Yesterday's Weapons Forums

Having spent all those years railroading, I have a soft spot in my head for RR memorabilia - mostly from other countries.

In the something new forum, I showed the WW2 Reichbahn grouping I scored online. Just got it put in a shadow box. Two non-Reichbahn medals on the bottom. To the left is a Verdun medal. That one HAD to go in a shadow box so it wouldn't get misplaced. The other is a French gold medal = 40 years meritorious service.

Here's another shadow box of mostly Belgian RR stuff. The two "table medals" are from Belgian Congo Railway and are made from Katanga Province copper. Very uncommon.

This grouping is also mostly Belgian "spoorwegen" with some French "chemin de fer" medals added. The watch is a RR certified Roskopf with dedicated RR fob.

After 20 years, I got a cheap watch with my name on the back. When I retired, I got a nice D-cell Maglite. But I also got a pension so it worked out.

Next time I'm downstairs I'll get pics of my RR kepi assortment. SW

I sold a FN 1922 to a guy tonight that collects Police guns,
it was marked by the German Railroad Police,
in ( I cannot remember which) zone (early post WW2, since they used the word Zone)

he was tickled to get it, and I was tickled to sell it,

win win!!

i have a collection of medals and other stuff that i seldom speak of because it was never a focus for me , it was more an accumulation of things i associated with my father and father-in-law , ive been wanting to put some photos together , i think mario and a couple others might be interested ,

started with saipan stuff and B-29 related stuff , including some vintage photos and items , unfortunately some of the best bits my father donated to his local historical society ..........another sad story ,
i did make up some shadow boxes of things for my niece and nephews , to keep them in the family ,

then into nautalus , swordfish , and some coarl sea stuff , a good bit of VN era stuff , and a lot of submarine including a lot of books on our silent war ,

Got kepi pics while I was downstairs.

Belgian RR kepi - probably for a supervisor of some sort.

The seller in Belgium told me this was worn by an Eisenbahn (German RR) engineer.

This is for a contemporary Belgian RR cond. Station masters and engrs have a different stripe arrangement in the same colors.

I've other kepis - mostly relating to French colonies. SW

I collect vintage-styled glass soda bottles. Soda tastes marginally better when coming out of a glass bottle than a standard-issue 12 ounce can. I've also got a few novelty dictator sodas from a local soda shop, there's some neat little references on each of them.
