so I was pokin around the local gun shop yesterday and ran across a spanish mauser in 7x57 that's been sportered.

he wants 140 for it. is it worth it how rare is one of these in 7x57 instead of 8??

I have one available right now, not a carbine but a "Mosqueton" length 1916 for less than that! It's a beaut & accurate too! Contact me if interested

If it's been sportered, then it's probably not worth it, depending on what was done in the conversion. Most just had the stock sawed off and handguard & "extra" hardware thrown away. Complete original 1916's can be found for less than $200. A nice '93 long rifle like Crunch found will run a bit over $200.

gungrubber, the spanish m1893 and the model 1916 carbine were originally chambered in 7X57mm. haven't heard of the spanish chambering mausers in 8X57mm until the model 1943 and 1944.

I'll be going to look at a mauser a friend of mine has. he's not sure what it is except that it's "some old kraut 8mm" so I might just pick up a mauser and a mosin from him, hehehehe.

What is a K98 - 1942 date that is missmatched worth. Very good condition.

....at least that these days with intact eagles.....could get more depending on the code on reciever-and any cartouches on the stock.... with a good description of th3e markings it'd be a good ballpark I could give you.... ....by the way Roy-nice to see you finally made it here ....now you sound like I did when I asked about Frank's T99 for the first time....
