GI issue(in a tube)

I don't know if its a riddle or not, but there were two things that were put in c rations during WWII. One was the Tootsie roll, but I think it came in a wrapper. The other was invented just for the war and that was M&Ms. They may have been packed in a tube with padding so they would not rattle.?? The only other thing Lifesavers??

Some riddles have more than one answer.I would argue respectfully the following:

4. A carpet may be a runner, but not all stairs have carpet while steps do run up and down all stairs and yet do not move.

29. A lot of poetic license here. An egg? If an egg yolk could be thought of as a golden apple, then rows of wax cells could be thought of as white halls and the honey within as a sort of golden apple. And certainly the contents are the object of theft. Smoke certainly leaves a hive defenseless.

I am still working on the other.

It would be ok if I could spell. We don't get many down here. I am embarrassed that I could not remember. Must be getting old.

P.S. Puzzle solving, doing mathematics. playing music, dancing are good ways to stave off Altzheimers. That is why I do them. It truely is "If you don't use it you lose it".
