I saw Mark got a sweet deal on a DDR 91-30 at auction. I just got an
exceptionally good deal on a Steyr M95 long rifle from auction. No one else even bid.
I think a factor here is late vacations and folks digging deep to buy school stuff. Been there - did that & it was NOT cheep!!
Forget selling dope to get rich - sell shoes & jeans for school kids and your plush retirement is assured! In the meantime, quite a few folks who would normally be bidding on gun auctions are biting the bullet for clothes shopping expeditions to the mall. "Dad, I've GOT to look cool!!! Don't you care about my self-esteem???" ( and other sure-fire sales pitches to get Dad to choke up the $ )
Well, preppy daughters are both out of school & gainfully employed so I get to forego that. They still stop by to raid the fridge & that is more than fine with me. I make sure there is always preppy daughter food laying around. Younger daughter tells me how tough it is to be 20 & I agree sincerely. Life was not the best when I was 20... patrol along Rt 9 about every morning... bunker watch every night... but I don't say anything... it would not register.
In the meantime, there have been some sweet deals on the auctions with fewer people bidding. Got the M95 long rifle - got a Martini-Henry artillery carbine for 100 shipped... got an Italian desert helmet for 57... they normally sell for over 200.
I'll post a pic of the M95 on the new purchase forum a little later. Time to clean brass & change oil in preppy daughter the elder's ride. Give me time to think how I will dispose of the long rifle... I really didn't need it, but I bet it will be good trading stock!
Life is good!
