ive been telling you this is one you should retain , true im prejudiced as these are my favorite bolt guns , but im not alone in thinking this ,

you can get a decent SKS at a reasonable price if you look carefully and i can say from experience it will make you happy ,

as to the MAS 49 - i cannot say personaly , never had one , but those ive seen here have been remarkable looking rifles ,

Romanian SKS Rifles are back!
Rare Romanian model 56 SKS 7.6x39 Semi-Automatic Rifles. Manufactured by the Romanian Cugir Factory from 1956-62. These apparently are the last we will ever see! These nice Rifles are in Very good condition and have only very minor metal finish wear and some wood stock wear. Features a chrome lined barrel and 10rd integral magazine. While supplies last (Does not include cleaning rod).

that looks to be a very fine rifle , but its too new of a release to have seen much feedback yet on the sites i visit ,

i think the SKS is a slightly under appreciated rifle , partly because it has accuracy issues when compared to some others , yet as a battle rifle it has so much going for it in so many ways , and you have to respect the engineering - with respect to the time of its design

Are you considering the FN or the MAS ?
The SAFN is an interesting and very accurate rifle. The MAS is, well, french ... I wouldn't spend my hard earned money on one of those.
The SKS is not a bad choice for a semi either.
But tastes differ of course
