Look at Hogger's Avatar. This is a Fedorov Avtomat rifle. WWI Semi Auto. The design didn't lend itself to the 7,62 X 54r (too robust) and was chambered in 6,5 X 50 Arisaka. It is a short recoil operated action fed from a 25 round magazine The last conflict that saw action of Fedorov rifles was the Winter War with Finland, when some Fedorov rifles were withdrawnfrom storage and issued to elite units of Red Army. |

6.5x50 Arisaka?? Interesting! Ammo logistics must have been a nightmare in Finland. The vertical foregrip doesn't look helpful to quick magazine changes. SW |

The Russians were buying Arisaka Rifles & Ammo form Britain. The had buttloads of ammo stockpiled. The mag changes may have been easier than you thought, look where the magazine release paddle is. They may (and I don't know for sure) have tipped in backwards from the ones we are familiar with like the SVT, AK, M-14's, etc |

The Russkys must have had OCD with their ammo buying. They bought 150 Win model 1907 rifles in 351 caliber. The article alleged they bought 1.5 MILLION rounds of Win ammo! I don't expect you to believe that but if they did, there's still a gaggle of it in some Russky warehouse.. France bought 351s and also a few hundred Win self-loaders in 401SL caliber. Italy even had some Win self-loaders for their balloon corps. SW |

The example in the picture is on display in the St-Petersburg arsenal museum. Doesn't it look like something out of a 1950's sci-fi movie ? Brgds, A |
