So what is a good book or booksa, to get on bayonets? They seem to be multiplying somehow :wink: and eventually, I'm going to want to know what I have and what to look for. Thanks

depending on if you specialize or are a broad spectrum collector the answers might be different

*but my first choice for reference is :
"bayonets from jantzen's notebook"

its got line drawings and a few B&W photos , but its set up by country in alphabetical order , itemized by model with noted series if it evolved ,

it cross references other sources ,

"My" narrow scope is both US and Commonwealth from 1880-1970s ,

**for most of the US i recommend ;
gary cunninghams , 'american military bayonets of the 20th century' ,

he has excellent line drawings identifys models and markings in depth , including scabbards , mfgrs , contracts , and foreign use

and also published 'bayonet points' on franks t's site www.usmilitaryknives.com
that site also has bill porters 'reports' and other great info ,

**for my commonwealth i recommend ;
skennerton & richardson 'british & commonwealth bayonets'

has great B&W photos , some line drawings and super coverage of patterns , markings , mfgrs , prototypes , experimentals , scabbards , frogs ,

hope this helps , there are a number of internet sites i could link as well , im sure others have their favorites in their focus areas as well

Thanks. I really don't have any focus area per say. I just want one of everything. :) Maybe two :crzy: of everything depending on what it is. ;) If I buy a rifle, I eventually have to have a bayonet for it.

Man I wish I had found you guys sooner. My wife is still giving me the evil eye from a "deal" I made. Sold a box of bayos for $100, I didn't know what most of them were and they are just not my thing. I had no idea they were of interest to so many people.

Ok, found a place to get Jantzen's for $45.0 shipped :ow: . Here is the link. http://www.ebayonet.com/ You'll have to weedle your way around until you find out how to order one. :| Didn't get any confirmation from the guy yet so, if it doesn't work out I'll update things. I must use these two smileys for no particular reason. :hah: :crzy:
Edit Not even a half hour later, I got a confirmation e-mail and tracking number. Now that's quick. Now I have to use this smiley. :rotflma: :crzy:
