I am trying to get a 200yr look to my next rifle...it's hard to do!!!!!

I need more 'silvered' look than this current state:


and the brass parts are starting to look good~ i'm at a 400gt sanding now......will get down to 600gt and stop~I just sit in the frontroom chair and work with small pieces wrapped around a rubber eraser~

If you want to give the brass that 'aged' look, rub some BP onto your hands then rub down the brass. That powder will give it the 'aged' look in a short bit of time!

bruce...I will do that~ after I have fitted them, and the holes drilled. I know the shiney stuff looks way outta place....but I have to get that 'butter smooth' then get my holes drilled, it's easier to see the lines to fit when stuff is shiney
i still ain't satisfied on the lock....i'm gonna sand it down AGAIN, and re-blue....then steel wool it AGAIN......I want a silver look....not browned......eeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I want a SLIGHT brwon to my lock....kinda like THIS skin:

Another thing to do to the brass is 'penny-browning' mix up some hot water and a bunch of baking soda & sit yer brass in there. Gives a funky effect
