Yesterday's Weapons Forums

Our pal, kaintuck sent me this war club he cut from a piece of cherry wood. I'll finish it into something a savage would use to good effect. I ordered brass tacks & something a little more "savage" for a point.

Right now, I dressed the sharp edges on my small belt sander & am applying coats of cherry stain to redden it up. Then some black paint in a certain design - brass tacks of different sizes and a metal spear point.

I took a trip off from work & should have this finished by Monday. We will see.

#2 Did a little sanding & two coats o' cherry stain. Added a more savage "business end" and taped off for black stripes. I'll let it dry overnight & get down to brass tacks tomorrow! SW

interesting piece

99% done! I was going to add turkey feathers but can't find my genuine artificial sinew. Used a grade school compass to mark out the circles. Managed to break two of the tiny Dremel drill bits, but got-r-done.

Shown with the big toad stabber kaintuck finished for me & the Pietta 1851 I converted to 38 Special for size perspective. If I had access to a horse's tail or mane, I'd make a scalp lock for it. SW

I LIKE it!.......you always can do neat stuff with my humble beginnings.......

I worked at the bench couple hours today the other IDEA for you is coming along.....I still need some serious time at Jacobs anvil.....maybe over the turkey days off, I can do some metal bending out there

Nooooo........it ain't no chasity belt for Briney.......HER vapors would melt case hardened steel!!!....probably stainless......naw.....she would STAIN even that!!!




I do think your blade in the club is way cool.....

interesting , i have never researched this type of thing so know nothing of it but i applaud your work as well as kaintuks , these make me remember my youth with my grandfather telling me of the french and indian wars , the trail of tears and my mothers interest in the western expansion , i realize your interest lies in the plains indians , it just stirs so many memories i wish i had spent more time on over the years , nifty bits anyway
