i made the spring from a carriage bolt, cut the required hole in the BP and stockwood....the spring goes behind one of the BP screws to 'hold' it...but it's also tapped into the wood...there's a pin to limit travel(just in case)....then i did a brass knob to slide, slight down movement releases the latch(which took over a hour just to get it into the exact position!!!)...then the last brass rivet thru the lid/along with a touch of solder
