Whats a good all around M14 scope mount? I want something that will be strong, work well and not cost a lot f cash? anyone who has something on there rifle? I am looking at this

Leatherwood makes a good mount. Although that $ looks a bit heavy. Give me a day or two & I'll get you a better price on the same mount. I am a Leatherwood dealer......just need to find my price list for 2011.

I was just reading some bad reviews on the mount, I found it for $93 at natchez. I would really like this one in steel.


Problem is I picked up a polytech M14 and all the online stuff say you can have a lot of issues with scope mounts on M1A springfields and other rifles because the side groove for the scope mounts are not to military spec. so they may not fit or will be loose. So I am not sure what to do.

Before anyone chimes in I know there are always the scope haters who prefer iron sights. but with the right mount,scope and ammo you can really do some damage.

I have a 3rd Gen Springfield mount & it seems to be solid. I remember when installing the directions specified hand tightening.....then give it a good whack with a mallet, then retighten. This mates the mount to that particular rifle.

im with you mario - stayin clear here , talk to bruce he will set you up , a good gunsmith can get them set up right

Well I took it out and shot it with the open sights. I think for now I will leave it as is. no cash for mounts and optics now anyway. plus them seem to be just fine.

just so you know there are a number of really high buck solutions to this problem - sadlac, smith ent , arms , etc.

i have always held that a well installed springfeild could serve the purpose well , its more about the installation than the actual mount ,

the service of that install could be as much as the mount , but to be fair it would be worth it , a rifle with a bad mount - or a badly mounted mount is worthless , and you can buy the best glass in the world and not correct it ,

i bought an arms mount/rings and had a gunsmith friend install it , it makes my investment in the leupold scope worthwhile , i dubt i would have had time or expertise to do the job ,

it went on my commercial springfield M1A , there are questions about how accurate their 'milspec' efforts succeeded , but my rifle shoots very well , and i only wanted to do it once ,
