The roads finally dried enough I could go shooting. Took the M.88/90 for a function test - didn't have a lot of time. Chambered just fine... no recoil with the mild cast bullet load I used for 8x50R... but extraction was difficult.
Got the case out to see no signs of pressure, but there are odd raised areas of case similar to the fluted H&K chambers. I don't think that applied to pre-1900 rifles.
Fired one more to verify the results which are shown here. Comments are solicited. While there are no outward signs, it appears the reveiver was drilled clear through and welded back up. Possibly re-chambered.
I'll inspect the cases closely & resize. I doubt this will lead to a head separation & might try for a 5 shot group.
