Took it out this morning & burned up some old ammo I found in the gun room. Shot @ 50 yards from an elbow rest. Cases made from 348 Win brass. 20.0 grains/ AA 5744. Lee 205 grain gas check bullet meant for Steyr M.95 @ .329"

After this I found a rock the size of a cantaloupe & smacked it 5x5 @ 100+ yards. Turned it into gravel!

What a sweet old rifle! SW

I run 348 brass through the 8mm Kropatschek FL die. One pass does the deal. Cutting a bevel on the case head isn't as easy.

I chuck a case in my cheep drill press using hand pressure & apply a file until the bolt will close on each case. Doesn't take all that much - just a little practice.

I'm not sure how Buffalo Arms makes their cases longer... they really don't need to be - you seat the boolet out to achieve the right COL & stuff them in the tube magazine as normal.

I did buy 20 cases already made up but was too cheep for more. Once I got onto making the bevel, I made 50.

These are sweet old rifles! Oddly, the bayonets cost like half as much as the rifle. But you can use them to dig dandylions without bending over! ;)

As of right now, Buffalo Arms has dies and brass in stock for 8x60R Kropatschek. The dies aren't cheep @ $80 but worth it in the long run. SW

I've never messed around with Lebel brass for anything but Lebel ammo so I can't say. Also can't say much about the bayonet - I've only ever seen the long ones. SW

Ive got one also and it is one of my most accurate cast bullet rifle for shooting full course 200-500 meter silhouette.

I use the Lee Precision 205 grain M95 .329" bullet behind 22 grain of IMR SR4759 or 23 grins of AA5744.

Cutting the bevel on a lathe (I have one) or is the quickest way to modify rim.

Has anyone tried IMR 4198 with a cast bullet? If the original load was 70ish grains of black, I would think a good place to start would be 27-28 grains of IMR 4198. I am doing my homework while refurbishing a well used carbine.

If that's on a carbine, it might be something to keep it in the scabbard - or on the artillery piece - something of that nature. SW

Okay. The fellow I bought it from referred to it as an 'artillery carbine'.
