i envy you that beer .... and the weather ,

it was only -16 this morning , but i had gainful employment , a good number of shooters today at the range , it never got above zero , but they were smiling and i was glad the clubhouse got up to +65 ...started the day at near +50 in the building ... not what i would like to have in the morning , we shall see , burning gas and making ice here in the northland ....

Ah, shooting in the cold, as long as the wind isn't whipping around is pretty good. Your coat doubles as a recoil pad. Fire the M-44 and feel no pain. I also like seeing the snow on the back stop fly around. More bang for your buck that way.

Saying bad things to people from Florida, that's just not nice, but perhaps appropriate considering the circumstances. I think its around 20 degrees headed towards 10 tonight. Hey, at least I'm not running the AC…..

im mostly happy the heat is on , i wont say nuthin bad about any part of the country , been a lot of those places over the years and realize we all get bad and good weather at times , nice thing is if we dont like it we just gotta wait a while , it will change ,

ours is changing tomorrow if the predictions hold , we expect to be double digits above zero for a change , i guess ill go out to the bank , post office , store , if it gets above 20 ill go out to the range ,

Rad , will your heat pump work at +4 ? most have trouble at much below +25 , that's why they encourage electric base board as a backup , but then if the power goes out one might wish for a wood burner ,

got up to +17 today , felt real nice , went to the gunclub but not the range ,

It will work to about -30. It is a geothermal unit. It has electric strips for back ut if the compressor quits. A normal air source heat pump looses it's efficiency at +35.

ahhh , geothermal , i understand now , my friend up north of two harbors uses that to heat his house , works very well ,

i knew the air exchange heat pumps lost their efficiency near freezing , but i think you can still squeeze a bit out in an emergency below that ,

the backup heat is recommended with any system where one can see the temps we get here ,
