Not sure what forum this should be in.

Does anyone know how to operate a pitzer lubrisizer? I can push the bullets through the sizer ok but don't seem to be getting any lubing going on.

Image

There seems to be one hole in the die holder part and three in the die (plus three holes plugged with some sort of pin?). Even with the die removed I don't see any lube coming out of the one hole in the die holder.

Somehow the plunger(?) got wound up so far it wasn't pushing the lube all the way down the tube, but even once I wound it down and reassembled the tool it still didn't push any lube out. The tube itself is on so tight I can't budge it, so I can't disassemble this part to see if the lube hole/port into the die holder is plugged.

Maybe there's old lube crusted inside & it just needs a good cleaning? SW

Assuming I can get it working I'm going to have to get my son to teach me how to use the lathe and make some more dies. At least for .38 S&W, maybe for the .455, although I think .452 will work fine in the Webley. I think I remember using them sometime last year. Maybe for my cap and ball revolvers if I ever shoot bullet shaped bullets in them instead of round ball. Anyway, fun stuff for another day.

Yeah - doesn't look like Lyman/RCBS size dies will work. That thing had to be a real antique!

I always look for old Grigsby reloading equipment since it's wifey's family name. They went out of biz late 50s - early 60s. SW

Those could be for a Lyman 450 lube & sizer. Examine closely the top of the size die - Lyman dies will have the diameter stamped there.

If things won't come apart, I still think they are seized up with solidified grease - bullet grease eventually becomes rock solid. Keep messing around with heat. SW
