This odd-looking mess is a Pakistani "gunsmith's" interpretation of a C-96 Mauser. Given the soft steel and questionable heat treating, I don't think I'd ever shoot it.

It never fails to amaze me what they can make with bar stock, chunks of railroad rail and a bucket full of files. SW

wow , that is an interesting piece , its interesting in what it is based on , but equally interesting might be when it was produced , as you say , its fun to see what they might make from inferior steel etc , but i wonder often when these turn up , just when the prototype of their production found its way to them to be copied ,

we have companies making a good living on reproduction vintage american cowboy guns , based on the original-expired patents , i have a lot of these in use as working guns these days , as i shoot SASS these days , yet these countries have examples left behind by history , people that invaded or defended , that they are copying , i think one might build a really interesting collection of these alone - if they were of interest enough , and you had the access to them ,

I had a Martini carbine made in Peshawar. Looked legit on the outside, but taken apart, the pieces had clearly been made with a cold chisel and worn files. I made one round with BP & wadded aluminum foil just to say I shot it - and troll the know-it-alls on another site.

Then ET bought it. SW

thats cool , ive seen a lot of kyber pass pieces , many looked good on the outside but id never trust em enough to shoot em even with that light little load , but i hear ya on poking the bear :>}
