Got some range time in today. Shot my m1at 100yds. New barrel, and the op rod has been reworked. The federal ammo was right on, really nice pie plate groups. The prvi ammo was kinda all over the place. Also shot my .45lc single action. At about twenty yards it was really shooting good. Fun day at the range. It's awesome how shooters come over to check out the m1. One guy said he trained with that rifle in basic training. Very cool. What rifle did you all train wirh in basic?

We qualified with M14s at Lejeune but then had to trade them for mighty Mattels. SW

thanks for this post - you woke up a couple old guys , i never did basic training so i have nothing to share there ,

having shot everything from the trap doors through the krags , M1903 series , M1garand & carbine as well as the M14 and early M16s i think there is a bit of interest to be had in every era , and yes they do attract attention at the range because most folks these days dont necessarily have access , when you have an early model they see it not because its got so distinctive of a sound as much as folks at the range are always looking - they see that distinctive LOOK ,

my enfields always gather a crowd , the discussion is half the fun , im always attracted to the person shootin that german mauser or westinghouse mosin or swiss straight bolt
