In Viet Nam, it was common for guys to order Akai reel to reel rigs from a duty free catalog (Pacex). There was a popular deal for a player, speakers and several blank tapes for not that much. The fad has died out though. A few years ago, I saw an Akai player at a garage sale for $50 with no takers. SW |

Well Hogger if the Elk came that close with poptarts I'd probably use a 2# ballpeen hammer. Remember ammo is scarce nowadays. LOL. |

We were rolling into N Antelope mine back in the day and a 6 point bull was bedded down right beside the rail. I was sorely tempted to drop an 80# knuckle on its head, but there was no way to get the meat home. During deer season, huge bucks commonly bedded down as close to the rail as they could get. They knew nobody was going to be shooting around trains. It always amazed me how they adapted to the noise. SW |

Would have been kind of hard to keep #4 away from Dave Barry. Wonder what the ex-Miami Herald columnist is up to these days... Regards, Doc Sharptail |

Open range country. North of Lance Creek, Wyo used to be open range - no fences along the hiway. Locals knew cattle liked to flop right on the pavement and drove accordingly, but tourists would steam right along... which didn't always work out well at night. Been a long time since I was up that way - it might be fenced now. SW |
