Rabbit snoozing in the late afternoon heat.
1/60 sec at ISO 200. Aperture is fixed on a mirror, so all is f8.
Hand-held, and slightly blurred by camera shake.
On a 500mm lens, the minimum hand-held shutter speed should 1/500, or preferably faster.

1/125 sec at ISO 400. B&W

Note pocket lint caught on the sharp edge.

There's your erstwhile, and often erratic photog. :P :bigrin: :roll:
I have to see if the electronic release for the F-3 is gonna work with the D-200.
If not, I'll have to decode the manual to find how to use the self timer...

Re the moon shot - what's your minimum shutter speed to deal with orbital movement?
I messed around burning up a couple rolls of film back in the day and never did get it right. It moves one diameter in not very many seconds. SW

I found the slowest usable shutter speed is 1/125 sec at f8 for ISO 100.
Photo shown above was taken at 1/250 sec at f8 for ISO 400.
The above values are far from cast in stone~ other factors come into play:

Atmospheric conditions play a large role in exposure for Luna.
The moon's height also determines exposure to a lesser, but serious degree.
A high arc moon like in spring and fall results in less diffused light rays.
Moon shown above was very low on the horizon, with a lot of air to diffract the final image.
It is much easier to pick up surface detail on a waning moon past half full.
And yes, the moon traverses the sky quite rapidly, especially when the arc is low.
This months moon traversed the DX frame from one side to the other in about 55 seconds.
There are $$$ tracking beds for astrophotography. Apparently stars travel the sky even faster...

I bought a second copy of the same lens, and am pretty sure I posted about it on the something new page.

I ran a brief hand-held test with it last night just over the kitchen table.

With the built in flash. Fairly good contrast.
ISO 64 with the D-810 at full jpeg resolution, and reduced to fit here.
1/250 sec. which is as fast as the camera will X-sync.
Image is actually motion blurred at full size image.
This lens is really a tri-pod lens.
I need to run some contrast and sharpness tests with it mounted on a tripod.

May have more on this a bit later as the weather warms up a bit..

Knife pictured is kind of hard to put an edge on- it don't see much use.
Another Gerber that I haven't really used. It's been in various day-bags for the better part of 6 years now.
