I recently got a 1903 springfield SN 153160x dates to about 1938. the bolt body has an R stamped under the bolt handle. this is for remington I asume, wich is not correct. The question is what would the proper bolt be for this rifle? it was rebarreled in 42' which is probably when the bolt got swapped. I am trying to get it correct. Any help would be great. |

Sorry just saw this now.... There are 3 bolts that would be proper for a 1938 receiver... one marked ns on the top root of the bolt handle, one marked D1 on the top (same place, one marked J1 in same place. Now my references show more of a 1939 date for that serial, where an 'X' on top would be proper. Info from here... |
