I just grabbed this one off gunborker after checking with Andrey about pricing. I collected Marlins for a long time and was always looking for a Hopkins & Allen Belgian Mauser because Marlin owned H&A at the time.
Apparently not many of the estimated 250,000 rifles survived because they are scarce as heck here and expensive when you finally find one. Too expensive for me, in fact.
But this H&A bayonet was within my modest means & I grabbed it for the min bid. It has been in a damp climate but does not appear to have seen much bayonet fighting.
I also have an OLD set of 7,65 Belgian Mauser reloading dies... with those and the bayonet, I have all the excuse I need to get serious about looking for an H&A rifle now... And so are a lot of other collectors.
H&A also made a "Safety Police" top break revolver with a Marlin roll mark along the barrel rib and wouldn't I like to find one of those!
Ah, there's always something!
This is the first Marlin item I've bought in a very long time. SW
