Traded my Ruger Single Six with the extra .22 Mag cylinder to my son for his Superstar 9mm. He thinks he got the better deal. He's wrong! This is a nice pistol! (I guess that is the mark of a successful trade: each party feels he got a good deal) However, we went through a full box of 50 today and had maybe 8 to 10 fail-to-extract jams. Would this be the spring is too weak, too strong? Or something else entirely? Would the ammo make a difference? We were using Sellier & Bellot FMJ 7.5 g 115 grs., which I think is one of the lighter loads available. Should I maybe look for something loaded a bit heavier? |

If it's a newer gun and the extractor isn't all beat up, you could try hotter ammo. I'm having the same trouble with my C-96. Since Tokarev ammo will wreck it eventually, I went with a very light load and am working my way up to something that will consistently cycle the action. SW |

Reloading hotter worked. I tried 3 Titegroup loads for the 147grain bullet and a box of 135grain Wolf reloads. They all worked! I had one fail-to-extract and I think it was just a dirty chamber. My son gave me half a box of 125grain bullets that he didn't like (I don't remember what he thought was a problem) so I reloaded with 3.9, 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2grains Titegroup (Sierra reloading manual). They all worked like a charm. No fail-to-extract. I couldn't say one was more accurate than another since the day was wet and cold, so I just burned through about 50 or so and called it a day. Most of them hit the targets with about 5 bullseyes and 3 pairs touching side by side. Looked like a double tap I also had a Deutch Werks German Youth Rifle with a broken front sight which I fixed so that it shoots 3.5" high and 1.5 to the right. That wasn't the intention, but that's how it worked out. Don't ask me how I know, but JB Stick isn't the way to put a sight on After I did it I realized all I had needed to do was file down the head of a 4" nail to make the dovetail, and cut the shaft down to about 3/8" and file it into a blade. Oh well, maybe next time. |

Fixed it! I use 4.5 grains Titegroup under a 115 grain boolet with good accuracy in my BHP. SW |
