dittos what beerrunner said , i always enjoy what i see , even when it reminds me of less comfortable times - as a kid i remember those late 50s early 60s station wagons and no they were not family friendly in spite of the adds , mostly a good way to get the kids close enough to fight , even when you thought you were old enough to be beyond it the little brats could get under your skin , and after a 600 mile day with another to look forward to you might actually wish you were an orphan for a minute or two ,

willing to hear those opposed or in agreement here tho - please make me feel i was the only one if you can , :Dbounce:

Nice GM Streamliner.

There were a few here that were re-purposed into moving vans.
Bekin's had a fleet of them here that were still on the road when I was a heckuva lot younger....

Here's a couple that caught my eye during the past week:

Image

1939 Delahaye

Image

1916 Traub V-twin.

A plumber found this hidden in a wall in Chicago.
Apparently a guy stole and hid it, got drafted for WW 1 and never came back.
It is supposedly the only surviving specimen...

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

A LOT of work went into forming those fenders to have the same shape! SW

The Traub m/c would be a harsh ride. No suspension on it at all, except for the slightly sprung seat. It's bicycle heritage is obvious. The light duty frames could be why they are so rare...

Doc Sharptail

You wouldn't take it camping, but a Ferrari station wagon would still be good for a trip to the gro… assuming you weren't concerned it might get "doored" by some thoughtless shopper. SW

Sis lifted this off of a russky steampunk site.
My m/s translator is a major fail here- It probably can't read the russian characters.

Looks like an early attempt at crumple zones. Cars without bumpers still give me the willies...

Doc Sharptail

Or it might be an extra airway to the radiator. If you still have the link, I can translate. SW

Did a little digging. The car is a 1931 Wikov 35 Capka. It's a czech automobile manufacturer.

I kind of mistrust links into sites like that, especially from media sites.

https://wikovveteranclub.cz/en/the-prod ... -the-cars/

Will have to scroll down a little bit to find the 35. It's there, about a 1/3 of the way down the page.
The car was definitely a non-production proto-type.

Doc Sharptail

An interesting pic of retro rides. Newest car I see is a '55 Chevy sedan. SW

There's a Nash Metropolitan in the foreground, and enough 53 chevy's as well.
Ours was a tudor coupe. There's even a studebaker and a ford woody wagon in there

Land Rover "long nose". Why the long nose? There were plans to use the Rolls Royce 12 cylinder Merlin engine, but the idea was scrapped - possibly parts availability or expense. SW

The 5th wheel 'Baygo makes sense~ especially if you know what camping with teen-agers is like ;)
