I think you have nailed it. Those look like propane or methane fittings. Leak and explosion. I cannot tell,but the sign on the pump may say "Metak"
Update: I looked it up and Ladas were made with dual fuel mods. Flip a switch and it goes from gasoline to propane and sometimes up in smoke.

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) car!! Only it apparently didn't remain compressed!!??

The pump sticker reads "METAH" Cyrillic H = English N. Russian has no "th" sound so they use T or F instead.

The Russian word for gasoline is 'benzine' so methane could be something else, too. Whatever it is, keep your head in the game at the pumps!! SW

The car is definitely Russian, but what is the country where the picture was taken. The reason I thought that the word was metak was that I have seen similar spelling on some Pri Partizan ammo. It was hard for me to tell from the angle. BTW does LADA translate into something like Ronson or Zippo?

Update: I looked up Galileo and it brought up Wikipedia and CNG. Even though the car may have been listed as propane convertible, it is just as likely that the alternate fuel is indeed Methane. Italy and Germany each have 800 CNG filling stations. Unfortunately the site did not mention how many were in Russia or other former Eastern bloc countries.

The word is at an angle, so it's not easy to tell the exact one. Still looks like METAH to me. Which is Russky for methane. And the license plate is consistent with what Russkys use... but I ain't Russian, and can't say positively.

Privi ammo is made in Serbia, IIRC... who use a Cyrillic alphabet - not the same Cyrillic alphabet as Russkys. I think it's pretty close to Bulgarian, but Mario may have something to say about that.

I think the DUI rate is very much higher there - that or your basic LADA - ZIL - GAZ etc & so forth is a lot more prone to roll over & play dead.
