I knew someone would doubt the dart AKA insanity 4 door 1974 dart unibody body frankenstiened onto the frame of a 69 challenger (yes it was difficult) pea green, green interior, steel wheels with the little moon hubcaps (had to screw em on otherwise they ejected when you launched) 4 10 rear end posi 426 hemi v 8 Built and blueprinted twin carter 4bbl carbs Jetted and set to motor hurst 4 spd pistol grip racing clutch moved springs for drag tires spare fuel cell in trunk 3 in dual stainless exhaust (to let the beast breathe) busted 3 sets of springs, 2 driveshafts, 4 seats and a couple sets of front shocks. (wheelstands are hard on shocks) the ultimate sleeper hit the gas and watch the sky GG |

Wish i still had some only took a few of it and they have gone missing when i moved to my current abode. Didn't look like much from outside (probably the reason we took so few pics) of course thats what we were trying for. I might have an engine compartment pic around if i can find it i'll try and scan it in and post. from the outside it didn't look like it could catch a cold unless you looked at the back (the monster wide tires and 3 in duals showed ) once you popped the hood though it always drew a crowd GG |

When I was a lot more younger, and even more foolish, I drove a 340 Dart "Duster" with the taz/demon decals through Northern Ontario. Wound the Dart up to 130 mph, and it wanted to part with the pavement- even though there was lots of pedal/rpm left in it. Had enough sense of self-preservation to ease back to 70 mph, and sure enough, around the next bend, there was a big bull moose standing in the middle of hwy 17. I often wonder how many died in those over-powered to weight/ratio cars. The 340 duster coulda used a stabilizer wing on the rear deck, just to keep the front wheels on the road "at speed". Regards, Doc Sharptail |
