I gave the Cabela's knife to my sister.
Went back with the intent of buying the CRKT M-16, but ended up doing a little better with some sale price items.
Gerber "Suspension" multi-tool. There's an adjunct to the model name that escapes me right now.
I'm not really a fan of serrated knife blades, partial or otherwise.
This tool has implements that actually lock into place.
The can opener is killer, as are the scissors.
It was a bargain cave item with no packaging, or sheath.
Of course, I needed another knife to replace the one I gifted out....
This is a blade profile and size that appeals to me.
It is a fine edge series knife with a gray "gunmetal' coated blade.
I don't know a thing about 7 Cr. I had one before with this designation~ a Gerber Gator that was insanely sharp out of the box.
This one has a nice edge- not a sharp as the Gator, but still entirely usable.
There it is with the tiny para-frame mentioned in another post here. Over cast lighting causes the blade to photo as chrome, which it is not.
This knife came with an over-latching problem.
They installed a detent ball on the frame lock to prevent the knife from opening in the pocket. If it had been done properly with a dimple on the blade, instead of an oversized hole, all would be fine. As bought, it was almost impossible to open.
I had to dis-assemble the knife and remove the detent ball from the lock spring.
Knife works as it should now- a one-handed opener. I removed the useless pocket clip while I had the tools out....
I have another new Gerber fine edge series knife that has been in the camera bag for at least 2 years, and it still has not seen any use. Will post up on it later after I can get some photo's done. It is slightly large for pocket carry and deserves a proper sheath...
Regards,
Doc Sharptail
